Blessing the Sir Lowry’s Pass community with food and winter essentials

Miracles still happen - The month of June 2024

Love in Action Sir Lowry’s Pass (LIAS) assisted in collecting, cooking and handing out 7921 food-servings in 4 weeks from 4 June until 29 June 2024 on 20 weekdays of the month by four cooking stations manned by four groups of unemployed women in their homes in Sir Lowry’s Pass. That is 396 servings per day on average for 20 weekdays in June.

What makes this remarkable is that it could not have been planned, as there was no fixed budget to buy anything. Everything was just walking on water in faith, working with what was available.

Gas, spices, dry ingredients, and food donations came randomly from everyone’s wallet change, emptied kitchen cupboards and fridges, close-to-sell-by date donations and general charity chopped-up donations, bakery or draw straight from church or collect charity contributions, others’ waste, and soup bones from a meat wholesaler. The local Checkers kindheartedly shared sell-by date vegetables daily and a voucher to obtain dry goods.

Strangers and kind-hearted people open their hearts and donate what they didn’t use. Love and care turned that into meals daily for the most vulnerable learners over the June school holidays, when they would have nothing to eat as the school feeding scheme was closed.

Thank you for all the prayers and messages shared to make needs known to strangers who left their contributions on my front porch and walkway.

This world is full of God’s angels. I’m so blessed to know an army of them personally.

9 July 2024, the school starts again. So we have ten more days to feed the children. I remain in prayer, expecting miracles of food, bread, jam, dry goods, spices, and vegetables, as well as provision for gas to cook the soups, stews, and porridge pots.

Thank you to everyone for their heartfelt and appreciated contribution. Just know that every small effort makes a HUGE difference when we combine that with other people’s efforts.

I remain focused on putting warm socks, shoes, hoodies, jackets, and jerseys on small, cold bodies because heat keeps them healthy. One hundred twenty-seven beanies keep ears and heads warm, and donated socks sewn up keep feet and legs warm on cold nights in a sinkhole.

Please dream, think, and network with me so we can continue sending love, care, food, living needs, and encouragement to people who are mostly forgotten but also thankful for whatever they receive to survive in the harshness they live in.

Be blessed, stay warm and know you are loved and appreciated for your caring hearts.

Thank you to all.

Please share so others can share in the joy of knowing they made and are making a difference in others’ lives.
